I painted this in memory of the years we've spent living in El Paso, Tx. In real life the star is composed of a few strings of light in the shape of a star on the Franklin Mountains. The actual scene itself is corrupted by power lines and other markings of urban life. I painted those away.) Through the rosy lenses of fond memories, the sunset sky becomes softened and glows with the retreating sunlight. The reds and pinks are, however, realistic of the west. It's hard to resist the urge to look back at those times.
