Description
In memory's gaze, I brush the canvas,
a sky once filled with laughter,
and lights strung like whispered dreams
across the Franklin Mountains.
El Paso, in your warmth,
the sun painted goodness on our homes—
reds fading to pinks,
the horizon ablaze with how we lived.
Power lines scratch at the beauty,
urban scars I chose to paint away,
tidying up the edges,
clearing the path to the heart of the sunset.
Through soft lenses of fondness,
each stroke glows with miles walked,
stories shared over fading days—
the golden hour calling us back.
Yet, still you stand, real and flawed,
not in shadows but in memories—
how they twinkled at dusk,
beaming hopes like stars from afar.
It’s hard to resist the pull,
to detach from the quiet hum
of a city that whispers “remember,”
where each sunset holds the laughter
of who we were beneath its glow.
