On top of the steep, white hill,
an adventurous snowman stands tall,
button eyes sparkling with mischief,
a corncob pipe resting in his mouth,
his scarf dancing in winter’s chill.
With a whoosh, he takes a leap,
skis carving paths in the soft snow,
laughter mingling with the cold wind,
every turn a twist of pure joy.
He knows the warmth is creeping in,
how the sun kisses him gently,
slowly sending droplets to the ground,
but he doesn’t care, not a single bit.
The world blurs by, a swirl of white,
as he races down the slope,
fins of pine trees and laughter behind,
each moment a treasure, each glide a thrill,
and though he melts just a fraction,
there’s freedom in every slide,
sadness wrapped in creamy delight.
When he arrives at the bottom,
with a jaunty tilt of his carrot nose,
he’s a little smaller, a bit drippy,
but who could frown at such bliss?
